The Story

Act 1



Josh and Jamal began personal training in 2017, working out of a 24-hour high street gym.

Their goals were simple:
  • Train a diverse mix of people
  • Continuously learn about all things training, teaching, and wellbeing
  • Be helpful, reliable, and build lasting friendships

After 8 years, 15,000 hours of personal training, countless group sessions, and a fair few new friends, they were ready for the next step.

Act 2



Independence.

Stepping away from the commercial chain gym, they found a new home in the heart of Kings Heath’s independent community.

“A Little Gym” was born on York Road.

The new goals:
  • Build a community centred around strength, activity, wellbeing, and friendship
  • Prepare members to feel robust, capable, and confident in meeting the demands of their active lives
  • Operate in line with the World Health Organisation’s physical activity guidelines

The mission: to offer a safe and welcoming space where the Little Gym community can learn, move, grow — and flourish.

We have a warm and inviting studio space available for hire, perfect for holistic practices such as yoga, pilates, meditation and more. It’s a welcoming environment where practitioners can share their craft and help others feel better — mind, body, and soul.
